This year Six String Place sponsored it's first annual Rock Camp. We invited 14 of our students from age 9 to 17 to participate in the eight day event, which concluded with a concert at the Red Cedar Jubilee tent here in Williamston. The students played a variety of songs at the concert from the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's to current. The students were very well received by the audience of over 300+ persons.
We would like to thank the following students for participating in the event: Andrew Winters, Phillip Winters, Cole Cummings, Colin Cummings, Mike Shaw, Brando Watros, Phillip Prescher, Michael Delany, Matthew Delany, Lydia Hayes, Shawn Filliwock, Austin Loewen, Caitlin Lamb, and Lucas Cannarile. You all did a tremendous job with the camp and the concert!
March Musical Madness 2010
On March 5th, 2010, March Musical Madness was held in downtown Williamston. The event was sponsored by the Williamston Chamber of Commerce and presented by Six String Place and Limner Press. Many of the downtown businesses had musicians play during the evening. Six String Place held a student concert at Wood and Sons Cornbin, which featured fourty students playing twenty songs. The event was well attended, with over one hundred parents, friends and members of the community attending.
At the end of the evening a number of prizes were auctioned off, including a $200 gift certificate from Six String Place. We would like to congratulate Joanna Hayes, who won the grand prize.
Six String Place would like to thank the following musicians for donating their valuable time: Tania Hayward, Curtis Remington, Casey Brockway, Kathy Hayes and family, Robert Clinton, Kate Van Allsburg, Pete Porciello, Charlie George and Keith Earle, the Organizers and Cindy McElroy. We would also like to thank the local businesses that participated: Artisans' Gallery, Gracies' Place, Yeetown, Bloom, Sequels, the United Methodist Church, Nvious and Wood and Sons Cornbin.
Sales of "Spirit of Williamston, Songs of the Season" result in a $1,100 donation to Williamston Food Bank
Thanks to all of you that purchased our holiday CD, "Spirit of Williamston, Songs of the Season". The purchases resulted in Six String Place donating $1,100 to the Williamston Food bank.
The CD was produced by Sean Barrett and engineered by Anthony Ravelo, and features Six String Place students and local artists. The CD is still available at Six String Place for only a $10.00 donation.

Instructor Sean Barrett places second in the Fingerstyle Guitar Magazine composition contest:
Sean Barrett, the lead instructor for Six String Place, recently placed second in the Fingerstyle Guitar Magazine classical composition contest sponsored by Grammy winning guitarist Andrew York. Sean's composition, titled "Gypsyoso", was chosen second over more than 30 contestants from around the world. Sean will also appear as a featured artist in a future issue of Fingerstyle Guitar magazine.
