Kathy Hayes

Kathy Hayes, a passionate fan of vocal music since very early years, had humble beginnings with family folk music. As a youth, she toured Europe as a member of the elite Mona Shores A Capella Choir. Private voice in the college years and beyond were with Mary Lou Hayes, and Gordon Finlay, both accomplished students of the international opera star and professor of the University of Michigan, Eva Likova. Classically, Kathy sings with a golden, soprano voice. Pop, folk, country, rock, and gospel are also a large part of a versatile repertoire. Other performances include Soloist and Youth Camp Music Leader for Wayside Chapel Ministries, Mason, MI, band member for the Okemos Cornerstone Worship Team,Wedding Soloist, Williamston Annual Variety Show, Williamston March Musical Madness, among others. Currently Kathy is studying ukulele, teaching voice and recording an album of original compositions at the Six String Place recording studio in Williamston, MI.  

Casey Brockway

The most recent addition to the Six String Place roster is Howell-based acoustic player, Casey Brockway. Being a self-taught player, Casey has studied all types of music from the hard rock of AC/DC to the more subtle melodies of Danny Elfman. Also being a self taught composer, Casey integrates the core necessities of scale work and exercises into a lesson format that gives students the tools necessary to compose music of their own along with playing their own personal favorites. .

Nick May

Nick is our multi-talented instructor for piano, guitar, and drums. Nick was recently accepted as a vocalist/musician for the World Championship of Performing Arts, one of the biggest annual talent competitions in Los Angeles California. He will both compete and perform in front of top name record labels, and producers, as well as MTV and Disney. He also is a live performer at many local and regional venues. Don Warren

Don is the owner and founder of Six String Place. For five years Don was the guitar instructor at the Williamston Community Education Center before opening Six String Place in 2006. Don has participated in many projects over the years from rock and pop bands to folk music and acoustic blues. Don’s expertise is in acoustic flatpicking and fingerstyle guitar as well blues improvisation and mandolin.

Sean Barrett

Sean is the senior musical advisor for Six String Place and is widely acknowledged to be the one of the most versatile guitarists from the Detroit area. He recently placed second in the Fingerstyle Guitar magazine classical guitar composition competition sponsored by the Grammy winning classical guitarist Andrew York. He has also won many guitar competitions and is currently working on a guitar methold book and a solo project.
